Buying Your First New Home? A Major Tax Break Is Now Law.
Federal legislation that received Royal Assent in March 2026 eliminates the GST for qualifying first-time buyers on new homes up to $1 million and provides a reduced rebate between $1 million and $1.5 million, potentially worth up to $50,000.
WHY IT MATTERS: The purchase price isn`t the only number that matters when buying a newly built home. Knowing which rebates apply can significantly affect the real cost of the transaction.

Posting a Job? The Rules Have Changed.
WHAT is Changing:Since January 1, 2026, Ontario employers with 25+ employees generally face new requirements for publicly advertised jobs, including disclosing expected compensation/ranges, whether AI is being used to screen or select applicants, and whether an actual vacancy exists. Canadian-experience requirements are also prohibited in covered postings, and interviewed applicants must be advised about whether a hiring decision has been made within the prescribed timeframe. (
